TeleCTG is transforming maternal healthcare in rural Indonesia through telemedicine-based technology.
The maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is among the highest in Southeast Asia[1]. This is especially true in Bogor Regency, despite its proximity to the capital and a network of private and regional public hospitals alongside community health centres (Puskesmas). These disparities stem from gaps in healthcare service integration, particularly in rural areas.
TeleCTG’s innovative remote foetal monitoring system is designed to enhance awareness of risk during pregnancy. Using portable devices linked to a digital platform, TeleCTG enables midwives and healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely foetal health assessments. By connecting Puskesmas with hospitals, it creates a medical network that ensures pregnant women in rural areas receive the care they need.
With TRANSFORM’s support, TeleCTG is further expanding maternal healthcare access in community health centres across Bogor Regency, introducing education services in six public health centres, training 30 midwives, and providing digital risk analysis to over 1,450 pregnant women. The project will help improve risk detection and strengthen coordination with referral hospitals, boosting local healthcare capacity and improving patient outcomes.
