The Duka+ app, built with support from TRANSFORM, was designed to support small, informal and historically cash based shops known as dukas to reduce friction and increase sales. These micro and small shops, the majority of which are women-operated or women-owned, play a key role in the local economy, providing access to essential every day products for customers.
Duka+ aims to digitise the wholesale to retail distribution network in sub-Saharan Africa. The platform allows duka owners to order goods digitally, utilising a highly flexible line of credit when required. Through a partnership with eVehicle company, Skoot, Duka+ offers same and next day green delivery; ensuring products are available and meeting customer demand, while reducing CO2 emissions.
Duka+ is a digital finance tool for micro-retailers and distributors, designed to support them to grow their business activity and expand sales. In the alpha pilot, Duka+ has seen a 15 percent uptick in sales for pilot participants. 4R Digital is looking forward to scaling up Duka+, expanding product reach and demonstrating the potential to further digitise last mile distribution.
