    Chanja Datti

    Area of Focus:
    Waste-Free World
    Geography:
    Nigeria

Chanja Datti is a Nigerian startup that decentralises plastic waste processing with its Micro-Recycling Plants (MRPs) located near waste collection points.

Traditional waste collection in Nigeria involves transporting large volumes of plastic over long distances to centralised processing facilities, resulting in substantial carbon emissions from fuel consumption.

Chanja Datti addresses this challenge with strategically placed MRPs that reduce the need for long-distance transportation, significantly cutting CO2 emissions from fuel usage.

With TRANSFORM’s support, Chanja Datti will expand its operations to two communities in Abuja, Nigeria, by installing and operating two new MRPs. Each MRP will process over 650 kg of PET plastics daily, create direct employment for women and youth, and drive economic growth in rural communities. This decentralised approach will reduce plastic waste by over 30% while transforming it into commercially viable products and empowering local entrepreneurs.
