Dharma Life has developed the concept of “Clean and Connected Homes” to help address the challenges of poor water and sanitation-related infrastructure, low awareness around hygiene practices, limited digital literacy as well as household air pollution in low-income rural households. Behaviour change campaigns are delivered through its network of trained female change leaders – Dharma Life Entrepreneurs (DLEs) – followed by providing access to relevant socially impactful products. Having successfully piloted the model with the creation of 200 “Clean and Connected Homes” in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Dharma Life is now in the process of scaling it across its network. Given the current situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the campaign has been augmented by digitising a number of the activities as well as incorporating messages around prevention, positivity and safety.
